For a long while now, the United States military has been trying hard to fight the widespread abuse of alcohol by its listed service personnel. They have however not gained much ground, as quite the opposite still seems to prevail. The specific group that seems to have a greater problem is the age group of 18 to 25.

Persistent stress and tension is what causes many abusive drinkers to keep at it. With the army however, theirs is a very complicated matter. It is different from ordinary citizens.

Strenuous kinds of training are put to use at the military camps. The aim of these is to prepare the army personnel to survive with the demanding combat environment. Unfortunately, they come with their own price. The mental effects are high.

When all the pressure is becoming unbearable and there are too many demands to balance, there is little option but to turn to alcohol. These demands may include marriage issues, family and service to the country.

Women especially, are the ones who surfer the most from this pressures. Imagine having to stump your authority as a worthy contender, on top of other requisites.

Due to all this pressure, women have their tensions running wild. They have to cope with a lot of harassment from their male counterparts.

Generally, alcohol abuse by military personnel does not end in the barracks. It goes beyond to other aspects of their lives. Their relationship with the rest of the society will change. That is why the army is treating it with urgency.

In any cases the alcohol abusers slowly loose there relevance in the armed forces because they have traits that cause friction between them and their workmates or family members. Many marriages are in turmoil because of alcohol abuse. This makes them become of less importance to the military cause.
