Modeling Social Behavior Grant Project
The National Institutes of Health, more frequently known as NIH, is a federal government agency operating within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that's essentially responsible for encouraging and supporting the country’s biomedical and health-related research studies.
The grants and initiatives of the NIH are all geared towards the attainment of its main agency mission which is “to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and scale back the burdens of illness and disability.”
In keeping with this mission, the National Institutes of Health has collaborated with the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) so as to determine the Modeling Social Behavior Grant Program wherein they propose to seek applications for the development and analysis of cutting edge theories, as well as computational, mathematical, and engineering approaches that could better our understanding of a human being’s social behavior.
The research studies that’ll be conducted under this programme will concentrate on inspecting phenomena at multiple scales in an effort to address the emergence of collective behaviors that spring from individual parts of a system.
Essentially, the program will support the studies that seeks to explore the complicated and dynamic relationships between the parts of a system and the system, and also between the system and its environment, all in an effort to completely understand the system as a whole.
The NIH, along with the NIGMS and NIMH invites applications from a team of scientists who are all pleased to work towards the attainment of the goals of this programme. In addition, the funding agencies have also specified that they will give concern to candidates who have manifested expertise in behavioral or social sciences.
The funding agencies are set to administer a funding amount of $2,000,000 to support the Modeling Social Behavior Grant Program.
The institutions and setups who will be considered eligible to take part in the programme are the following:
a) Higher Education Institutions like Public/State Controlled Institutions of Higher Education and Private Establishments of Higher Education
b) Nonprofit Organizations Apart From Institutions of Higher Education
c) For-Profit Organizations such as Small Businesses and other organizations apart from Small Businesses
