Many of us at some point or another would have declared that we feel depressed or anxious. Usually when you look back there will be a reason for this and your feelings will be temporary or short lived to say the least. They can both be treated well with something called CBT also known as Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This is where a therapist will work out why the patient does or feels the things they do. They look for behavior associated to their condition and then work backwards to see if they can stop that pattern of behavior.
For example someone could be depressed and using therapy they may find out that looking back they feel they have gone onto the wrong career path and ultimately it is their work that is depressing them. For someone who has panic attacks in large stores they may realize that they were once lost as a kid in a large store and that kick starts the panic. Sometimes knowing the basis of our fears and worries can help us to control and even eliminate them.
